Heritage blurb

Yep it's true I havent forgotten this little story. Its still around, actually its going fairly well. This little excerpt is a promise. A promise I will complete Heritage. This section was written by Supesfan18. Without further ado...
Sarah Bartowski sat in the Blackhawk helicopter on her way to New Mexico.  With her husband’s head in her lap and fingers absentmindedly playing with the curls on his head, she thought back to their last few weeks.

Her best friend…no her sister…found out about their double life.  Then all of them found out they were related to Diane Beckman.  At the same time, the ancestral home Chuck had seen for the first time was destroyed, and Sarah feared everyone but Chuck were killed. Finally, she was kidnapped by a rogue agent out for revenge. But her magnificent husband came and rescued her.  Sadly, it was a short-lived victory.  Two days later, her worst fears were realized, and she was forced to tranq him.

Now it was her time to rescue him emotionally, just like he did for her all these years.

Sarah ran her left hand through his hair while simultaneously using her right to wipe the fresh tears falling down her face.  She had already called the New York Times and placed an ad; a coded message to someone she never told Chuck about.  The only person who could help save her husband was the very same man who had saved her.  She never thought it would ever come to this.  She had never been so scared in her life.

She was broken out of her thoughts by Chuck’s ringing cell phone.  She pulled the phone out of his pocket and saw it was Casey.

“Casey, he’s…he’s…”

“Just tell me what happened to him, Sarah.”

“Casey, he’s damaged.  Not physically, but mentally.  We have a Blackhawk, and we’re on our way to New Mexico.”

Casey coughed for a minute.

“Casey…. he may never forgive me, but this is the only way I know to save the man I love.”

“What do you mean?”

Sarah sighed.  “Casey, this is just between us. Have you ever heard of The Padre?”

“The Padre? Get off it, Walker.  That’s the story they tell recruits when the instructors don’t want to tell them how bad it can get. He’s an urban legend.”

“No, he’s not.  He exists.”

“So you’re saying there really is a priest who occasionally helps out the CIA with agents who have left the reservation?”

“That’s exactly what I am saying, Casey.”

Casey grunted in disbelief.  “Just ‘cause I’m on pain killers from the shrapnel in my shoulder, it doesn’t mean I’m an idiot.”

“Casey, you said it yourself.  I used to be Langston Graham’s wildcard enforcer.  On a mission back in 2007, something went very wrong.  I completed my mission, but Bryce bailed on me after I got hurt.  I was falling apart. I was taken to this man.  A man who was a deacon.  A man they called The Padre.  He helped me to survive.”

Sarah paused to wipe away some tears.  She pulled Chuck closer to her.  “You were right when you said I had been compromised when I met Chuck.  But The Padre taught me to see the emotions I was feeling not as a curse, but as a gift to be embraced.  He told me I’d meet a man one day who would need me. Not the spy, not Agent Walker.  Me.”

Casey thought for a moment. He recalled hearing a story about how a turncoat ambassador was assassinated just before he could pass schematics for a chemical weapon to Al Qaeda.  After getting the intel, they took him out.  However, his two young sons were killed at the same time.

“That mission in Poland?  2007?  That was you?”......

I have most of the first chapter handwritten mostly.  It promises to be a LONG chapter.

Chuck Fiction Contest

So I was reading a question on Twitter that MXPW posed. It was about what Chuck Fan Fics we reread.  It got me to thinking; I wonder what would be my top 5 fics of all time.  After a few days of changing it countless times, I came upon the realization that I was having fun trying to (-get) (+create) my list.  Inspiration was not far behind this epiphany.

Could others have fun with this too?

So I went on twitter and asked a few people who have unofficially become a book club for fics. Uplink, Big Kev67, DWNACrumby, JoeltotheD, and last, but not least, alladinsgenie4u responded. For some reason a poll entered my mind. On FF the Awesome awards have just concluded, congrats to all the great winners by the way. (You can find them here http://forum.fanfiction.net/topic/49974/42966453/1/#43287923) I was thinking the Awesomes’ are just for one year, and pick a winner. What if we tried to find the five best fics of all time?  A kind of people’s choice awards for Chuck fan fiction.

When I brought this idea up to the group, Crumby, added a brilliant idea. We should include a universe as one story. For example What Fates Impose has oodles of companion stories. The bright side of life verse, from Notorius JMG, and SharpasMarble’s wonderful series of stories come to mind. Than the question was asked “What about one shots.”  So I thought, there are countless one shots who never seem to get acclaim.
So, let’s make it more interesting and include the top five short fics. I decided to define short by chapters, and not words. (The FF site has problems with word counts. Don’t want to bore you with minutia.)

A great example of this is Chuck and Sarah vs the Force Field by Farringtongirl. It is 3 chapters, but it does not go into the depth that a “multi chapter fic does” it basically covers one event. Another example is Tuesdays by Armadilloi. So I think a fic between 1-5 chapters is a good place for Short stories.

Finally, in my opinion, the toughest category of all, the five best authors. Most of us have our first couple picked out, but what about three, four, or five best authors:  Brickroad, Frea, LEECAN, NinjaVanish, MySoapBox, Timewalker05, FromPentoPaper, the whole CIA gang, BillatWork, Poa…. See what I mean, (and that’s the short list).

When I decided to do this, there was a couple of things I felt were important:

First, anonymity. The authors who write Fan fiction are mostly not professionals. They do it for practice, training, and for the love of writing. I do not want to hurt someones feelings by letting anyone know how many votes someone receives. The only way I can think of accomplishing this is to contactme through DM on twitter @Bdaddydl, Email Bdaddydl@Gmail.com, and FanFiction http://www.fanfiction.net/u/2353759/BDaddyDL I welcome any other suggestions.

Secondly, It is my hope that it’s not just the newer stories that get nominated. For example, LeeCan’s, Only Two Options, was completed in September of ‘08.  Another is revelations by MySoapBox that was completed of May of 09.  The fandom has a diverse history. It amazes me how good they are, and how close some of the older stories come to future cannon.

If you want some suggestions of some great stories or authors, please feel free to look at my favorites, or even better ATC Dave’s http://www.fanfiction.net/u/2347669/

I am debating having a second round to get to the final 5 in each category. Please let me know if you think that’s a good idea.  This way people can vote again when they realize they forgot a great author or story.

First Post

A good friend suggested I take Chuck too seriously. It took me less than thirty seconds to completely agree with him.  He is a good friend, but he thinks taking it too seriously is a bad thing. Don't get me wrong. There is some serious drawbacks. Rolling of eyes, procrastination, people avoiding you, among other much more serious things which I am trying not to think about it.

I do wonder is it strange for me too take this so seriously, and yet the stars who make it do not. A large portion of the world would not know what Comic Con is, much less why taking out a 2nd mortgage might not be a bad idea to go to one. Is this obsession healthy? Probably not, but I love writing, and the only fandom I really like is Chuck's. So I have tried to step back, but I have been doing "baby steps Sis, baby steps" (one more proof I may be addicted). Also, Chuck remains as one of my favorite shows on TV right now, and is in my top ten of all time.

So not only will I post some Chuck musings on here, I will also chart my progress on finding some "Balance Danielson Balance".
